An independent agent is a licensed insurance agent that is not limited to one specific insurance carrier. A carrier is the company that provides the insurance policy. (There are many carriers, some examples are Liberty Mutual, State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, AIG etc.)
Unlike captive insurance agents who are contracted to one insurance carrier, independent agents can offer a wide variety of coverage options at various price points.
Value in an independent agent comes in their connections and knowledge of the insurance market, meaning they can often find better insurance for your money than you might find searching on your own.
Whether or not you buy through an insurance agent (captive or independent), it does not cost you any additional money. The insurance policy premiums you pay already have a certain amount built in that acts as a commission for agents, whether or not you have one. You are essentially already paying for it, so you might as well reap the benefit.
With Heritage, the biggest value comes from the service you receive after starting your insurance policy. This could be from the call to let you know that a better rate has become available to the caring help you receive if you ever need to make a claim.
It is our goal to make sure you feel well taken care of.
